Mayo Lester Award: Current Recipient
Putnam Chamber Recognizes Jacquelin Chaney
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce proudly presented the 2007 Mayo Lester Community Service Award to Jacquelin Chaney at the Putnam Chamber Annual Dinner Meeting on January 25, 2008. The event was held at Wellingtons with 270 people in attendance.
The Mayo Lester Community Service Award was named after the Chamber's founder and first Board Chairman, Mayo Lester, who was the first recipient of the award in 1979. The criteria used in choosing the recipient includes the positive impact made because of action taken, an extraordinary amount of uncompensated time devoted to a project or projects, creativity and initiative displayed beyond what is expected, and a high degree of personal sacrifice. It is much more than being a good citizen or a good friend.
Ms. Chaney has served the county in many capacities, working with children and adults alike. She helped raise financial support for the library system through the state legislature and other elected officials. She has also donated time by serving on the Board of Directors for Putnam County Community Action and is a Member of Rotary, Literacy Volunteers and The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Chaney was a huge supporter of implementing the Putnam County Portfolio Exposition and was instrumental in organizing the Business Symposium for Putnam County High School students.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to congratulate Jacquelin Chaney as the 2007 Mayo Lester Community Service Award recipient.
